What mulch is best for North Florida?

The best mulch for use in North Florida is one that is sustainable and cost-effective. We recommend Pine Straw first. Then Pine Bark second. Third is usually a mix of ground hardwoods that have been dyed to look like cypress. All three have their place in the landscape depending upon the need of the customer.

Cypress mulch used to be the number one source. However, due to its lack of sustainability and the devastation of the swamps, we do not recommend it. It can sometimes be found in the box stores with other mulches like eucalyptus.
